Beauty Tools: How Was The Makeup Sponge Invented?

Natural base makeup is the key to creating a perfect makeup look. Beauty tools play a pretty important role in the base makeup effect, in addition to the condition of your skin. For both professional and ordinary makeup artists, the beauty blender is the first step to starting a perfect makeup look.
A small sponge has changed the fashion world about beauty as an everyday makeup tool. Do you know how it was created?
The world's first beauty egg sponge comes from Rea Ann Silva, a Latina makeup artist with more than 20 years of makeup experience in Hollywood and has worked with countless celebrities, including Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Garner, Alicia Silverstone, and so on.
The origins of the first makeup sponge can be traced back to the 2001 TV show "Girlfriends."
The show uses unprecedented HD filming technology, and the audience can see the actors' pimples and even pores. As a makeup artist, Silva realized the need for a new makeup technique that would allow the actors to look perfect even in high definition.
Initially, Silva used a regular wedge-shaped sponge to apply the casts' makeup, cutting off the 5 corners of the sponge into a rounded shape, which was the prototype of the beauty egg.
Makeup sponges made of wedge-shaped sponges were so popular on set that Silva discovered a huge business opportunity behind them.
She began experimenting with various shapes of sponges. Eventually, she created a unique, non-angled teardrop-shaped beauty egg sponge that was reusable and fashionable in pink.
In 2003, the first Beauty Blender Classic Original Pink Makeup Sponge was launched. It quickly became a hit in the beauty industry for its ability to create a light, natural-looking foundation. Moreover, it was voted the number one beauty tool by the world's leading Allure magazine beauty awards in 2007.
